Permanent Hair Transplantation with Long Hair or Non-shaven Technique

What is Non Shaven FUE?

The Non-Shaven FUE Normally the standard FUE needs cutting or shaving of the hair on the back of the head to extract hair grafts for transplantation, so some patients are concerned about their looks and how to resume normal lives after transplantation.

Therefore, there are new FUE methods that are non-shaven in nature, and there are three types of them:

– Pretrim method : this method trims individual hair strands from the nape, and then uses an extractor to extract each of the hair. The extracted graft is usually 1-3 mm in length, and this method is good for people with curly hair, who do not require a large number of grafts.

– Direct Method : this method uses a grafting drill bit to cut and extract the hair at the same time. The extracted graft is usually 0.3 – 0.8 mm in length, good for people with straight hair and require a large number of grafts compared to the pretrim method.

– Long Hair Method: This method extracts long donor grafts using a special drill bit and extractor that allows a rough prediction of the result, both on the donor area and density and direction of the grafted area.

Non Shaven FUE Process

-Similar to the normal FUE process, only no shaving of the donor area on the back of the head.

-Takes longer than the standard FUE at 2-6 hours (or 8-12 hours per case, depending on the number of grafts).

What you should know about the Non-shaven FUE.

– The non-shaven FUE requires a longer grafting time, and thus the graft stays outside the body for longer, so the graft may degrade if the extraction is insufficiently careful or quick, affecting its viability and survivability. Thus, this hair transplantation method requires an experienced medical team and specialized equipment.

***- Patients usually misunderstand that grown, long hair can simply be grafted using the long hair method. Actually, the grafted grown hair will only last for 2-4 weeks before falling off just like the normal transplantation method. New hair will grow to replace the lost hair in the third month.

– the non-shave and long hair methods do not require cutting, so extraction of hair grafts from the back of the head is more difficult, and the grafted hair might not be as 100% viable as standard methods.

Postoperative care for the non-shave FUE Normally the postoperative care is not different from the normal method but more care is needed for the long hair method because the grafted long hair might entangle with the original hair, resulting in the grafted hair falling off. MaxHair Clinic offers both shaven methods (FUE / FUE MCG / FUE DHI) and non-shaven methods (Non shave FUE / Long hair FUE) as the clinic has a highly experienced medical and transplantation team. The patient can consult with the doctors to find the best method for them for free at any Maxhair branch.
